Eva Putzova, an accidental American born and raised in Slovakia, served on the Flagstaff City Council and ran for Congress in 2020. She co-founded Catch Fire Movement, an organization dedicated to building progressive leadership and democracy from the bottom up. Catch Fire Movement is home of Keep Flagstaff Together and the Flagstaff Living Wage Collaboration.
Locally, she is known as the architect of the Flagstaff Minimum Wage Citizen Initiative, which voters successfully passed in 2016. She also authored the Restaurant Workers Bill of Rights, first introduced as a resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022 by Representatives Rashida Tlaib, Jesús "Chuy" Garcia, and Marie Newman.
Eva continues to “meddle” in politics because she believes we need more serious people with political courage who are unbossed and unbought to stand up for working-class folks and human rights.
J'aime Morgaine is no stranger to advocating for rural America. Hailing from rural Arizona, her community faces unique challenges concerning water access, and is well aware of the special interests that seek to continue exploiting rural Arizona's water in spite of this. Initially getting involved by running as a candidate in Arizona's 30th Legislative District, she ran on a platform of revising outdated water rights laws, promoting funding for education, and improving healthcare quality in rural areas. Now, J'aime is serving on the advisory board of Rural Liberation to help us fulfill our mission.
Mardi Devolites has lived among and championed rural voters in several western states since the 1980s. Mardi holds a Masters Degree in Communication from Northern Arizona University as well as a graduate certificate in Ethnic Studies. She also has experience in journalism, law enforcement and has maintained her own horse training business for more than 20 years.
Since January 2023, Mardi has organized in the Anthem/New River area of Arizona. In order to reach out to her conservative neighbors, Mardi started the Foothills Moms Demand Action group to promote gun safety through the BeSMART program, which advocates for safe gun storage.
During the 2024 election cycle, Mardi organized a new group called Anthem Indivisible in order to bring the substantial resources of Indivisible to the long-ignored rural communities in the Anthem area. To canvass rural Independents, Mardi formed the Daisy Mountain Rural Coalition which included local organizations, activists and candidates. The coalition delivered rural packets including information on Project 2025, the DVUSD school bond and progressive candidates to 1000 rural Independent doors.
In preparation for the 2026 midterms, Mardi is working with Rural Liberation to train volunteers to do deep canvassing in rural areas. Through a series of presentations and regular evening meetings, our activists plan to build teams of canvassers to go out and build community at a neighbor to neighbor level. Mardi believes democracy will not survive if we fail to find common ground with our rural neighbors.
