Rural Liberation is committed to fighting for reproductive freedom. People in states without access to abortion face a real and present danger if they are pregnant and need to terminate. However, we also recognize that reproductive freedom extends to far more than just abortion access and pro-choice policy. No one faced with pregnancy should feel pressure to terminate because they fear not being able to provide for their children or that their child won't go to a good home if adopted out. Everyone deserves the choice to bring new life into this world when presented with the opportunity.
Rural Liberation will fight to decrease adoption wait times, protect the right of LGBTQ+ couples to adopt in places where that right is at risk, advocate for policies that will increase access to childcare in rural communities while decreasing cost, advocate for increasing women's health centers in rural communities to ensure nobody feels at risk during their pregnancy, and advocate for mandated paid parental leave. These policies will ensure that everyone has an actual choice as to whether or not they should terminate a pregnancy, and that bringing life into this world will not be something that only works well for those among us that are well off financially.
