Rural Liberation is committed to fighting for the protection and expansion of America's public lands. They are the lifeblood of many rural communities, with people dependent on them for hunting, fishing, and recreation. Many rural economies also depend on the tourism revenue they generate. With National Monuments being shrunk, public lands staff being needlessly fired, and our forests being opened for logging without an environmental assessment, the best time to fight for America's public lands was yesterday. The second best is today. Rural Americans greatly value the ability to live in an area with an abundance of life and natural beauty.
A key way Rural Liberation intends to fight the exploitation of public lands is by encouraging local and state governments to acquire any land sold off by the federal government. This would ensure that public land stays public and under local control and doesn't fall into the hands of private interests that would exploit it.
